OpenEye EasyNVR recorders are sold with motion detection recording enabled by default. To get the most out of your recorder, you should configure the motion detection settings for each camera to fit the scene it is capturing. OpenEye recommends using OpenEye cameras with the latest firmware version (pc20141203NSA or newer) for optimal motion detection performance with OpenEye EasyNVR recorders.
Note: You may want to confirm which firmware version your IP cameras are using before completing this process. For instructions on verifying the current firmware version, please refer FAQ #881.

Overview
/dmg-04.html. To update the IP Camera Firmware on the cameras connected to your EasyNVR, you will need to complete the following tasks.
- Make sure you know the IP address of your EasyNVR recorder.
- Download your IP Camera Firmware to a computer connected to the same network as your EasyNVR.
- Use the same computer to update the firmware on your cameras via Internet Explorer.
- Connect to the EasyNVR.
- Upload the new firmware to each camera.
- Reset the factory default settings on your cameras.
- Restart your EasyNVR.
- Reinstall the Camera Viewer Software on your computer.
- Use the computer to configure the motion detection settings on your cameras via Internet Explorer. (For instructions regarding motion detection configuration, please refer to your IP camera manual.)
Step 1: Find the IP Address for Your EasyNVR
If you do not already know the IP address for your EasyNVR, you can find it using the recorder itself.
- Move your mouse pointer to the top of the Live screen to reveal the hover menu, and then click Setup.
- Click System Setup.
- Click Network Setup.
- Click General Settings. Your IP Address is listed on the second line of this screen.
- Write down this address for later steps.
Step 2: Download Your IP Camera Firmware to Your Computer
On a computer connected to the same network as your EasyNVR, open a web browser and navigate to openeye.net.
- Click IP Cameras on the home page.
- Click on the icon for your OpenEye IP Camera model.
- Click the Software tab, and then click the camera Firmware listing.
- Click Download Firmware.
Step 3: Upload Firmware to Your IP Camera
Part 1: Connect to Your EasyNVR
- Make sure that your computer is connected to the same network as your OpenEye EasyNVR.
- On your computer, open Internet Explorer, and then type the IP Address for your EasyNVR in the address bar.
Note: OpenEye EasyNVR uses an ActiveX control to display video. If you have not already done so, allow Internet Explorer to install the ActiveX control. - Type the appropriate Username and Password for your EasyNVR recorder. Be sure you are using a user account with Administrator privileges. (Default username: admin; default password: 1234)
Part 2: Upload the New Firmware to Your Camera
- Right-click a Camera Channel in the Channels area, and then click Link. If you have not already done so, allow Internet Explorer to install the Active X control.
- Log in to your camera (Default username: admin; default password: 1234).
- Click System, and then click Software Version.
- Click Browse.
- Navigate to the location of your firmware file.
- Click OK.
- Click Upgrade.
- Do not close the window during the upgrade.
Step 4: Reset the Factory Default Settings on Your Cameras
After the firmware update is complete, you must reset each camera to its factory default settings. This will overwrite all existing configuration settings.
- Press F5 on the keyboard to refresh the Camera Setup browser window. A new user interface will appear.
- Click Advanced, and then click Maintenance.
- Click Partial Restore.

Step 5: Restart Your EasyNVR

After updating the firmware and loading the factory default settings for all of the cameras connected to your EasyNVR, you will need to restart the recorder.
- Using the Internet Explorer connection to your EasyNVR on your computer, close any open Camera Setup windows and return to the EasyNVR screen.
- Click Settings to open the EasyNVR Configuration window.
- Click Management, and then click Shutdown.
- Click Execute to restart your EasyNVR.
Step 6: Reinstall Your Camera Viewer Software
- On your computer, open the Windows Control Panel, and then click Uninstall a Program.
- Locate the OpenEye Camera Viewer software in the Currently Installed Programs list, and then click Uninstall.
- Once the program has been removed, open Internet Explorer and type the IP Address of your EasyNVR in the Address Bar.
- Type your Username and Password to log in to your EasyNVR. (Default username: admin; default password: 1234)
- Right-click a Camera Channel in the Channels area, and then click Link.
- A Camera Setup window will open, and the system will automatically download the new version of Camera Viewer software.
Step 7: Configure Motion Detection Settings on Each Camera

- Connect to your EasyNVR using Internet Explorer on your computer.
- Right-click a Camera Channel in the Channels area, and then click Link.
- Type your Username and Password for the camera.
- Follow the motion detection instructions in your camera manual to properly adjust the motion detection settings for this camera.
- Repeat this process for all IP cameras connected to your EasyNVR.
